Handcrafted strangeness you can hold, use, and carry — one-of-a-kind miniatures, sculptures, and curios from Philadelphia.
KC · Tom Savini SMEP · Philadelphia
Long before I stepped onto a professional movie set or picked up a sculpting tool, I was a seeker of strange beauties. The things others might overlook — I always saw as treasures. Sculpting and painting have always been how I process the world and capture the unusual.
That obsession led me to the Tom Savini Special Makeup Effects Program, where I translated my traditional painting and sculpting skills into the technical artistry of cinematic illusion. I went on to work on commercial sets and large-scale art installations — but my heart has always lived in the details.
About two years ago, I began merging my SFX expertise with my love for miniatures and the macabre to create what I call Functional Curiosities — art that isn't just observed, but touched, used, and carried through your life.
My work explores stillness and anticipation — the moments before or after an implied event. Nothing moves, but something feels present.
My pieces feel familiar at first — then something is slightly wrong. That's on purpose. I want you to keep looking. I want it to stay with you.
Everything is mixed media, handmade start to finish. The SFX craft is in every layer — texture, weight, the way light hits a surface. No shortcuts.
Art shouldn't just hang on a wall. I make things you wear, use, hold, and live with — a tiny oddity for your shelf or a piece that stops people in their tracks.

Whether it's a tiny oddity for your shelf or a one-of-a-kind piece for your home — everything here is handcrafted, intentional, and made to be lived with. I don't make duplicates.
I take a limited number of commissions throughout the year. Whether you have a very specific vision or just a feeling you want captured, reach out — I love collaborating on pieces that mean something to the person who ends up with them.
Don't worry about having the perfect description. Tell me what draws you to my work and we'll figure out the rest together.
